A confidante describes him thus:

I think [he] knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is. . . . He knows how perceptive he is. He knows what a good reader of people he is. And he knows that he has the ability — the extraordinary, uncanny ability — to take a thousand different perspectives, digest them and make sense out of them, and I think that he has never really been challenged intellectually. . . . So what I sensed in him was not just a restless spirit but somebody with such extraordinary talents that had to be really taxed in order for him to be happy. . . . He’s been bored to death his whole life. He’s just too talented to do what ordinary people do.

He’s not as smart as he thinks he is—smart people don’t get bored.

He’s narcissistic, seeing himself as “too talented to do what ordinary people do.”

Anyone who knows exactly how smart, how perceptive, what a good reader of people he is suffers from the Dunning-Kruger Effect; competency is inversely proportional to certainty.

He’s got a messiah complex, likely to the point of sociopathy—the sociopath expects the world to do things for him (like challenge him intellectually) rather than doing them for himself.

Most importantly, he has surrounded himself with people who tell him these lovely stories about himself.

All in all, by his confidante’s description, how willing would you be to trust him with your credit cards? With your kids? With your dog?

With the extreme narcissism, invocation of God & worshipful praise, I smell the fascist Ted Cruz.

Ok, you made me google. OTOH, suppose it’s true?

I can assure you that it ain’t true.

Until all the mysteries of the universe have been solved, the world will be full of intellectual challenges for really smart people.

Lifelong boredom is the exclusive preserve of dolts.

Whoops! Sorry, I wasn’t supposed to google. Does that revoke my “Get-Out-Of-Jail-free!” card? Ted Cruz gave it, and my secret decoder ring, to me. He also gave me a signed copy of “The Bill of Rights; the Short Form”.

    Obama?!

That’s Barack Obama. I remember the article where they quote one of his advisors saying that. It struck me as rather disconcerting that someone could rise so far while being so terribly oblivious to his own weaknesses (since we all have them).

It’s really an unfair Question ( now that I got it wrong) because to a degree all politicians are fungible and they all have some nit-witted worshipers who think they have some special calling.

By example many people who potentially could be my friends have meant to tell me that whenever I enter a room they hear the music and theme song
    From the movie ” Shaft”…

I’ve also seen that before, but wouldn’t read too much into the bloviations of a courtier, much less diagnose sociopathy from a distance. That said, running seriously for any office – much less president – requires an enormous ego. After all, by definition doing so means you think you should be the one in charge, are more capable than anybody else, etc.. Being president is among the most intellectually challenging jobs in America, and in it he’s failed more often than he’s succeeded. If he was bored in his prior gigs, he’s got plenty on his plate now to keep him occupied.

The quote says more about the confidante that it does about her subject. One (recently fired) Obama supporter in the White House publicly opined “I’m a fan of Obama, but his continuing reliance and dependence upon a vacuous cipher like [confidante] concerns me.”

And there you have it. The State Police would have everyone in the State of Virginia believe that I am a rabid frothing-at-the-mouth VIOLENT sex offender, ready to pounce upon the first female that crosses my path. That is a pure lie. Old bags, with sagging parts, are in no danger from me.

However, I would contend that anyone who seeks the office of POTUS is not fit for it. as being clinically insane, and should be put on a list as such as “Political Offender”. :) Ric

“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

Of course, it would be very hard to give you a solid answer, unless one googled.
I would not be able to give the right answer, if I was not a very good googler.
The spinner is VAl Jarrett doing P R to make Obama the “restless spirit”
I think you all should realize something about the Univ of Chicago Law School.
When Tony Scalia was there(as a professor before he went to the FED BENCH) he represented OPEC and the Shiek oil Cartels.(in federal litigation)
His co-counsel was some really radically guy Kahlid Al Mansour,(buddy of the Saudi inter-circle) google some of that.
Liz Cheney in Wyoming, now running for the U S Senate, blasts Obama as the most radical person ever to inhabit the White House. Let me put a number to you:
Over 300,000 people, mostly civilians have been killed since 9-11, see the Brown University Report the cost of the war, the endless war.
Without google, i could have never given you the right answer, and it must be recalled, that google is a means to fuse our restless inquiring minds to looking for information to expand our understanding on the world, beyond our narrow limits, that constrain us when we dwell in our own neighborhood confines. In some ways, Jackson Hole Wyoming, is a mystery, Cheney called it his residence, when he ran in 2000,(Mr VICE) but he was never really there other than a few quick photo ops, as he had declared a homestead exemption on his Dallas house as he was rain-making for Halliburton. Recall, the Constitutional Amendment where the PRES( contender), and the VICE can’t be from the same state.( a reason for that Constitutional Provision)
W(Bush) wanted to get rid of Quayle and replace him with Cheney when old man Bush(# 41) was the PRES. So, when it came time for W to run for PRES,(2000) he rigged it to use Wyo as a decoy to avoid the U S Constitution. It has now come out that Cheney was not getting enough oxygen to his brain, all the time he was VICE, with a very bad bad heart.
So, google Kalhid al Mansour, and factor in matters as to how Obama got to Columbia(U) to
Harvard Law to the U S Senate(ILL) to the highest office in the LAND/ World, the U S Presidency. That he(Obama) has been bored his whole life, claims VAL Jarret, his big White House Advisor, seems such an odd statement, given what has been happening in America since
2007. On smart people not getting bored, that is probably correct.
Do you all realize that Obama was only a lawyer for about 3-4 years.
How many have done a lexis on Obama ?
But, on Abe Lincoln, he was a real trial attorney, before he ran for the Presidency.
Have any of you been on an EMAIL list of the OBAMA Orgs, there is probably not an email sent out from his ORGS,(for the last 10 years) that does not ask for money. Team Obama really tapped into the cyber I-NET dynamics, more so than McCAIN, or Romney.
Oh, here is something troubling; Do you know how much book publishing companies have dropped in Obama’s coffers… Google that. SHOCKING
