For those feeling sanguine about health care reform:
Let me get this straight: we just signed into law a health care plan . . . written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it . . . passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it (but exempts themselves from it) . . . signed by a president that also hasn’t read it (and who smokes) . . . with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes . . . all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese . . . and financed by a country that’s broke.
What could possibly go wrong?
I haven’t formed a solid opinion on the new health care bill, largely because I am not sure how well I understand it. It’s nice to see I’m in good company.
But it has the support of the pharmaceutical trade association, the AMA, the AARP, and the health insurance industry! If all of these groups, who surely know better than anyone else what’s wrong with the current system, support the law it must be wonderful.
You can bet all of them went over it with a fine tooth comb.
